WE HELP TURN A TROUBLING TODAY
INTO A PROMISING TOMMORROW.
WHO WE ARE
Empowerment Advocacy Group is an in-community therapeutic service addressing the behavioral and emotional needs of youth and families in Northern New Jersey.
VISION
Our vision is to be a voice for youths, nurturing a healthy family dynamic in the home enviornment, and promoting positive change by advocating for youths and their families.
OUR GOAL
Our goal is to work collaboratively with Care Management Organizations and Community Resources to address the needs of the youth and family, provide stability and bring normalcy back into the home. We achieve this through a multi-step approach. By listening to and addressing the needs of the youth and family, developing and implementing a treatment plan, collaborating with the treatment team, implementing therapeutic modalities and creating a safe environment focusing on the strengths of the youth and family we create a better future.
Treatment Frequently Asked Questions
How long does treatment take?
Each treatment is customized to the needs and issues of the client that are being addressed. It’s more beneficial to look at the authorization periods to determine treatment length. For example, mobile response cases are generally authorized for an eight week period. Case management organization authorizations are generally in three month increments. Your child’s progress in achieving the identified goals will be monitored weekly to evaluate how the treatment is progressing.
How much involvement is expected of the parents?
Parental involvement is crucial in achieving treatment goals. Parents are considered partners in the process and are made aware of treatment objectives and goals, what is discussed during each session, and how well or poorly the youth is progressing toward achievement of his or her goals.
Will my child need to be hospitalized?
Hospitalization only takes place if there is a crisis where either the youth or others are in danger of physical harm. These rare cases exist when the crisis cannot be resolved in the home or community where treatment takes place. When hospitalization is needed it is to stabilize a youth who is in danger of self-injury or injuring others. authorizations are generally in three month increments. Your child’s progress in achieving the identified goals will be monitored weekly to evaluate how the treatment is progressing.
What should I do in a crisis?
As part of the initial treatment process the treatment team works together to create a crisis management plan. This way you’ll know exactly what to do and who to call should a crisis occur.
